Technical Support & IT Systems Administrator

Job Summary 

The Technical Support & IT Systems Administrator ensures the seamless operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure, encompassing network systems, hardware, software, and user support. This role is pivotal in maintaining optimal system performance, security, and user satisfaction across all IT services. 

Responsibilities 

1. Network Infrastructure Management: 
  • Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks to ensure optimal performance and uptime. 
  • Troubleshoot network issues promptly, coordinating with ISPs for external connectivity problems. 
  • Configure and manage network hardware, including routers, switches, and cabling. 
2. Systems and Hardware Support: 
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware such as desktops, laptops, and peripherals. 
  • Oversee the procurement and setup of hardware for new employees, ensuring proper configuration. 
  • Manage IT hardware inventory, ensuring accurate records and timely replacements.
3. Software and License Management: 
  • Install and update software applications as required. 
  • Manage software licenses, ensuring compliance and renewals are up to date. 
  • Administer company mailboxes, handling creation, deletion, and troubleshooting issues related to storage limits and access errors. 
4. Security and Compliance: 
  • Ensure website SSL certificates are current and renewed before expiration. 
  • Support the design, installation, and configuration of security systems, including CCTV and Access Control. 
  • Implement and monitor security protocols to safeguard IT systems and data. 
5. User Support and Training: 
  • Provide in-house support by troubleshooting hardware and software issues on team laptops or desktops. 
  • Conduct onboarding sessions for new employees, ensuring access to required systems and software. 
  • Offer ongoing support and training to staff on IT systems and best practices. 
6. Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination: 
  • Collaborate with internal providers and hardware vendors to ensure IT solutions meet company needs. 
  • Coordinate procurement, installation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. 
  • Liaise with external service providers for specialized IT services and support. 
7. Continuous Improvement: 
  • Stay informed about emerging IT trends, tools, and best practices to enhance service delivery. 
  • Regularly assess current IT processes, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency and quality. 
  • Propose and implement process enhancements to optimize IT operations and user satisfaction. 
  • Collect and analyze feedback from users to inform continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Participate in training and development programs to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the IT team. 

Job Specifications 

1. Knowledge & Skills: 
  • Proficiency in network systems (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi) and troubleshooting. 
  • Strong understanding of IT hardware and software systems. 
  • Familiarity with security systems, including CCTV and Access Control. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.​
2. Physical Demands: 
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment as necessary. 
  • Comfortable working in various office environments.​ 
3. Work Environment: 
  • Primarily office-based with occasional off-site visits as required. 

Qualifications 

1. Education:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Certifications: 
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification. 
  • Network+ or similar networking certification is advantageous. 
3. Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years in IT support or network administration roles. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing IT infrastructure and providing user support.
